Showrunner Etan Frankel teased the wild story ahead of the show's release.

"It's a fun and rich journey into the story of people who live very extreme lives," says Frankel. "When I took on this project a year and a half ago, I found Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin to be utterly fascinating, and this crazy tale about two big cat lovers quickly became an important story for me to tell."

The eight-part limited series, which is based on the Wondery podcast "Joe Exotic", will be centering on Baskin, who sets to shut down Joe Exotic's venture after learning that he is making money off of his big cats.

But Joe isn't backing down and he is ready for the claws to come out. "She wants to mess with me, I can mess with her," he is seen saying in the trailer.

By the end of the short clip, Baskin declares "war" on her nemesis.

Praise For The Actors

It takes talent to portray these eccentric characters but Mitchell and McKinnon prove that they are perfect for the roles.

"John Cameron Mitchell is one of the most gifted and thoughtful actors I've ever worked with. He cares so deeply about the work, and his performance is breathtaking," says Frankel, praising his cast.

"And Kate McKinnon is simply remarkable. She is able to make us double over with laughter one moment and then break our hearts the next. It was an absolute thrill to watch these two exceptional actors morph into these roles."

Carole Baskin's Reaction

On an appearance on the TODAY show last year, Baskin shared that she wasn't a fan of Netflix's Tiger King. The animal activist believes that she was unfairly portrayed and the series got "just about everything wrong" about her.

When asked how she felt about McKinnon's portrayal of her, she admitted that the actress nailed her signature messy hair look.

"She actually nailed the messy hair look," Baskin said.

Joe vs. Carole also stars Nat Wolff, William Fichtner, Kyle MacLachlan, and Dean Winters. The series will premiere on Peacock on March 3.
