Showbiz is hard for celebrities especially when you’re a top-earning actress in a multi-award-winning show. The mean girls culture also makes it hard for newbies to fit into an already established cast. So, it wasn’t shocking when the media (gossip blogs) sniffed out tensions between The Big Bang Theory’s co-stars Kaley Cuoco, and Mayim Bialik.

When Mayim Bialik joined the show, main cast members such as Kaley, Jim Parsons, and Johnny Galecki were already fan favorites. As such, they negotiated a whopping $200,000 per episode salary putting them at the top of the food chain in the TV industry. Newcomers like Bialik who played Dr. Amy Fowler a neuroscientist were earning the regular $60,000 per episode or less.
Apparently, Bialik was envious of Cuoco’s huge salary, and the latter wasn’t willing to take pay cuts. Reports then flew that Cuoco wasn’t pleased with the new addition thereby making her unwelcoming to Bialik. Radar Online escalated the situation in 2018 when it claimed that Bialik and Cuoco couldn’t stand each other. It further alluded to a possible catfight between the two.
Of course, rumors sell papers, so we can understand why those incredible sources claimed, “Kaley and Mayim hated each other. There had been huge catfights between the two of them and producers tried to just keep them apart.” That statement is a lie (¬according to Gossip Cop’s exposé) because not only were Kaley and Mayim’s characters Penny and Amy, friends, but Bialik attended Cuoco’s wedding.
In 2017, Cuoco actually took a pay cut to augment Bialik’s salary so there goes the theory of being unwelcoming.
The truth is that The Big Bang Theory’s cast is a close-knit family. Per The Sun, we know they host mini-reunions occasionally, and sometimes work together on other projects. In response to the rumors, Bialik said, “We worked together for nine years, and I went to her wedding and celebrated things with her. I’d say we’re friends.”
In 2017, Mayim told People magazine “I’m happy to report that we have a cohesive cast and we all know that our strength is together.”
This situation isn’t the first time Kaley’s relationship with a co-star is under scrutiny from the media. Last year, her new show The Flight Attendant announced that Alanna Ubach from Euphoria was joining the main cast in Season 2. According to movie news, Ubach’s character would go head-to-head with Cuoco’s causing tensions between the ladies. Some fans speculate these on-screen tensions may translate into real-life but we doubt that.
To nip the gossip in the bud before it becomes a Bialik situation, Kaley posted bonding sessions on her Instagram for her 7 million flowers.
